Do you have a wildlife conservation project that needs funding? The Carteret County Wildlife Club offers the Grants in Conservation Program to support projects on wildlife research, conservation and education of all kinds with high relevancy to the CCWC's mission. Grants up to $3,500 will be awarded on an annual basis, as funding is available.
Eligibility
Applicants need not be based in North Carolina. However, proposals submitted for consideration to the CCWC Grants Program must clearly demonstrate the relevance of the proposed project to the mission of the CCWC, and a clear relevance to Carteret County and its immediate neighbors (Onslow, Jones and Craven counties), eastern North Carolina, or the remainder of the state. Proposals will be accepted from individuals, groups or organizations.
The CCWC reserves the right to deny any proposal, and all CCWC decisions are final and cannot be appealed. We reserve the right to disqualify proposals that appear to have been written by AI. The CCWC is a 501(c)3 organization and does not provide funding for overhead or other indirect costs.

Applicants will be notified of decisions during the first week of October and successful applicants will be announced at the CCWC October Meeting. Awards will be made available after approval.

Proposals have no length requirements but must include:
Cover page (see template below)
Objectives of the project
Proposed methodology
Timetable for project activities
A list of all necessary permits, and/or permissions from affected parties.
When applicable, name and contact information for supervisor of the main participants in the project.
Budget, including:
Total cost of project
Itemized budget including personnel, travel, equipment, supplies, and other line items
For multiple grant source projects:
Clear designation of which elements CCWC funding would cover
Clear designation of which, if any, elements are already funded by other sources, including institutional or personal cost-share. You may also indicate where attempts have been made or planned to apply to other grants.
Brief bio with relevant background information of applicant.
Grants proposals are reviewed for the following criteria:
Does the proposal adequately describe how its objectives are of relevance to mission of the CCWC?
Proximity to Carteret County and its immediate neighbors (Onslow, Jones and Craven counties) is preferred. However projects in eastern North Carolina, or the remainder of the state, will also be considered.
Does the project have a defined outcome and measurable goal(s); alternatively, does the proposal adequately describe how it may lead to more meaningful wildlife conservation?
Is the project achievable within the time frame and resources outlined in the proposal?
When applicable, has the applicant(s) obtained the necessary permits, and/or permissions from affected parties to allow the project to proceed?
When applicable, has approval been obtained from supervisors of the main participants in the project?
Is the project budget reasonable and realistic to achieve the proposed project?
Reporting Requirements
Applicants receiving funding will submit the following within 13 months of receipt of funds or within 1 month of project completion:
A plan for the promotion of the. Examples include social media posts, posters/graphics, a public presentation, written article, education activity, social media tags, etc.
A written report submitted to CCWC via carteretcountywildlifeclub@gmail.com.
If feasible, an oral presentation at a CCWC meeting or another CCWC event.
When applicable, a copy of a published peer-reviewed manuscript acknowledging support from the CCWC Small Grants in Conservation Program.
If a grantee is unable to complete a project for any reason, unexpended funds must be returned to the CCWC with an explanatory statement.
